Tofu Cheesecake is a Healthy Alternative

>коли под наем cheesecake may sound like a contradiction in terms since it is fairly obvious that this cake has no cheese in it. Yet here is another wonderful use for tofu and if watching your waistline makes the real thing just a distant memory, you might want to give tofu cheesecake a try.

Tofu carries heart healthy benefits and is high in protein plus there’s a big difference in the calories you will consume if you go with the healthier tofu cheesecake version. A slice of regular cheesecake, and we’re talking about a mere sliver, is a whopping 400 calories and almost 25 grams of fat while a similar slice of tofu cheesecake is about 200 calories and only 4 grams of fat.

Mention tofu to any avid meat-eater and you’ll hear words such as boring, dull and tasteless being thrown about. Tofu is, in fact, a tasteless food, basically being curdled solidified soymilk. It is, however, an excellent source of protein, calcium, vitamin B complex, vitamin E and phytoestrogens, all proven to go hand in hand with a number of health benefits, making it an ideal food for vegans and vegetarians which nutrients many miss out on. However, one advantage of tofu is its ability to absorb the taste of other foods very easily; opening doors to a number of options of recipes and dishes based using marinated tofu that anyone will enjoy. Challenges of Cooking With Tofu

Myself and many of the people that I know are becoming more health conscious than ever. We pursue health actively, through diet control, exercises, and so on. Although I personally have not done so, some of my friends have been embracing vegetarianism. It is easy to make a resolution to yourself not to eat meat from this date onwards. The success of this resolution would more often than not depend not as much as your own commitment as on the availability of alternatives that measure up to the taste and aroma of meat recipes.

Even if you are not trying to cut meat from your diet, you may be cutting back on the amount of meat. Tofu is an alternative that can supply your body with the missing protein.

Tofu Soup

Here during the cold that is Canada’s winter, soup’s popularity soars. Why not try making some tofu soup?

Tofu Soup Recipe #1: Miso Soup with Tofu

This one is easy, even for a single guy like me. You will need 3 teaspoons of Miso (which is another word for soy bean paste), 3 teaspoons of green onion that is in thin slices from the bottom to the top, 1 tablespoon of stock that is fish-flavoured, 3 cups of water, and half a cup of tofu.

Once the ingredients have been assembled, combine the fish flavoured stock and the water, and bring the mixture to a boil. Add the tofu (which should be diced) and then dissolve the Miso into the soup. The onion should be added to the soup just before serving it (this recipe makes 4 servings, well, 2 if you have my appetite!).
