Sweet and Sour Tofu with Sticky Rice Recipe

This Sweet and Sour Tofu with Sticky Rice is a delicious and simple vegan meal ideal for weeknight dinners. The crispy tofu and vibrant vegetables are coated in a tangy and sweet sauce that will satisfy your cravings.

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 25 minutes
  • Total Time: 35 minutes

Instructions

  • Rinse the sticky rice several times in a medium saucepan until the water runs clear.
  • 2 cups of water and 1/2 teaspoon of salt are required.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce to a low heat, cover, and cook for 18-20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, coat the tofu with cornstarch.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the vegetable oil.
  • Fry the coated tofu for 5-7 minutes, or until crispy and golden.
  • Set aside the tofu from the pan.
  • Add the sliced bell pepper and onion to the same pan.
  • Cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  • Combine the pineapple chunks and sweet and sour sauce in a mixing bowl.
  • To combine, stir everything together.
  • Return the fried tofu to the pan and stir until evenly coated with the sauce.
  • Serve the sweet and sour tofu with the sticky rice that has been cooked.
